Boye (in white Rajasthani shirt) and I visiting the abondonned "Ghost Village" near the edge of the desert West of Jaisalmer. The house is a reconstruction of a 150 year old Mud Brick house. Clearly not as modern and sturdy as the mud brick houses of Jaisalmer, yet with finer painted decorations on the outside.I want to continue telling about my adventure as Boye and I travelled through Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and back to Delhi. But first, you might be wondering why this travel blog is called 'Revisiting India' and not 'I Once Went to India'. In the 1.5 years since I was in India on my 3 month long adventure, I have thought a lot about going back to the land of 650 languages. In fact I'm in the process right now as I write, of planning my next trip to this beautiful land which is more like a continent with its hugeness and diversity, stretching across its many different climate zones.
I've missed the endless smells of spices in the grand markets and my attempts to recreate the varied and exquisite tastes of Indian cuisine, I have to admit, pales in comparison to the authentic originals I tasted during my 3 months in India. The people I met in India also stand out to me. The many opinions on life and philosophy that Indians wholeheartedly love to share with friends and strangers alike stand out to me. Also, India is a place so rich in cultures, religions, languages, philosophies, lifestyles and opinions that you can easily satisfy your curiosities about all things within this magnificent land of so many peoples.
